History

Bosworth Hall has stood at the heart of the Leicestershire countryside for more than 350 years and remains one of the area's most recognisable historic buildings. The Grade II listed mansion was originally built during the 17th century for the Dixie family, whose estate played an important role in the history of Market Bosworth for generations. Many of the impressive architectural features seen throughout the hotel today, including its grand staircase, oak panelling and elegant reception rooms, reflect its long history as a distinguished country house.

During the late 19th century the estate passed to Charles Tollemache Scott, who carried out significant improvements to the building before it later became a public hospital during the 1930s. Throughout the Second World War the hall cared for injured military personnel before eventually closing as a hospital in the 1950s.

Following an extensive restoration, the building was transformed into the hotel guests enjoy today. While modern facilities have been carefully introduced, Bosworth Hall has retained much of its original character, allowing visitors to experience the charm of a historic country house alongside comfortable accommodation, leisure facilities and beautiful grounds. The hall is also closely connected to the fascinating history of Market Bosworth and the nearby Battle of Bosworth, making it an excellent base for exploring one of England's most significant historic landscapes.
